Summary

Welcome to part 2 of our 2020 Year in Review episode of “Event AV and Lighting, demystified” brought to you by Tree-Fan Events, with your host, Anca. Hopefully you got to listen to the first part already and you’re ready to embark on the last part of this full of wisdom-nuggets episode!

A quick overview, the premise of this episode is built around the fact that we wanted to produce a soundbite compilation out of all the amazing episodes recorded in 2020 because we’ve had some really good ones. With the risk of repeating myself, If you haven’t gotten the chance to listen to them all, I highly encourage you to go back and listen when you have time over the holidays.

In the first part of the 2020 Year in Review episode, we covered some of the concerns that were lurking on the horizon at the time each episode was recorded and the steps the event professionals that I got the opportunity to interview have taken to pivot their events to virtual, what type of personal and professional challenges each one of them faced in the very beginning, and we also covered audience engagement and interaction and many tips were provided.  In this episode we will touch on virtual event platforms, discuss key elements of a successful virtual event, touch on hybrid events and review some trends to watch out for in 2021. Today you will hear from:

Lauren Dully Clark of Raise Agent,

Brent Berg of Valiant Productions,

Todd Campbell and Brian Lehmann of The Av Dept,

Canaan Hackler of Hackler Productions,

Fundraising Ambassador Johnna Wells,

Benefit Auctioneer Patrick Siver of gEvents LLC,

21: Strategies for Choosing a Virtual Conference Platform with Mark Woodworth

Summary

Welcome friend to a new episode of “Event AV and Lighting, demystified” brought to you by Tree-Fan Events, with your host, Anca. On today’s episode I invited on the air my colleague, Mark Woodworth, an expert in enterprise grade virtual conference platforms to discuss the general strategy and factors when choosing a conference platform, as well as the different features and capabilities that should be compared and considered for the product offering you’re reviewing. If you’ve already tried to determine which conferencing platform is best for your group but realized the amount of time it takes to do a through research, you want to tune in today’s episode and save yourself some sweet time!

Check out Hubb.me if you’ve got a healthy budget and looking for great data capture and customizable branding,  It is a stand-alone Software as Service so you’ll need an event registration platform and AV provider for in-studio or pre-recorded content but is a solid platform with great support and design.

For a conference of less than 300 people, Hopin.to is an affordable option. They have a self-service model with monthly plans you can cancel anytime. Anyone can create an account and play in a sandbox without any expense. Great for the do it yourself event organizer on a budget. Event registration is integrated in the platform and no a/v provider is necessary.

For event planners seeking a solid middle ground between cost, features, and support, Bevy.com offers a best of class enterprise app. It delivers an end-to-end virtual experience with as much or little account support as you need. The app comes with white label branding, custom landing page, seamless registration with survey questions, peer-to-peer and group networking, virtual stage, breakout rooms, sponsors, vendor booths, and an intuitive and easy to grasp dashboard for attendees. The biggest takeaway is the app was designed with a community-first perspective and it shows in the design and their outstanding and prompt customer support.

CVENT.com rolled out their Virtual Attendee Hub on  August for their CONNECT Virtual 2020 event. CVENT offers scalable event services so you can go end-to-end with their help or pick services à la carte, a dedicated account manager will guide you through options. A unique twist to data capture is their Engagement Scoring model, which delivers traditional metrics but weighting can be customized based on your criteria.

Summary

Welcome friend to a new episode of “Event AV and Lighting, demystified” brought to you by Tree-Fan Events, with your host, Anca, recording this episode somewhere in the deep woods of Idaho, finding her way home. Well, not really – but so it happens that our episode #20 is a special edition recorded under special circumstances. 19: A helpful fundraising tool for your upcoming Virtual Event: Auctria

Summary

Welcome to our new episode this month!  Today my goal is to introduce to you a helpful tool with a great number of features to assist in raising much needed funds during this pandemic via virtual fundraising, and for that, guess what, I have a surprise for you! I have another guest with me today  and we will be talking about this tool that any organization that is looking to fundraise and raise much needed funds needs to know about. This episode is very much targeted towards the nonprofit sector more so than our general thematic episodes where we talk about event and audio-visual productions, but even so and even if this is not necessarily your interest point, I believe there will be a lot of opportunities to learn about something that normally is not part of your repertoire, if you may, so tag along and maybe learn a thing or two, and in the wise words of Jack Lewmann, “Never stop learning, for when we stop learning, we stop growing”.
